What Alouvi is

Alouvi is a Mac app for text-to-speech (TTS). You select text and hear it aloud. It is not a dictation or speech-to-text product.

What we process

• Account email and magic-link auth tokens via our Relay auth service when you sign in.
• Plan and billing metadata when you subscribe via Stripe Checkout (descriptor ALOUVI).
• Usage meters for Speak (characters/seconds, provider, voice) to enforce Free and Pro allotments. Customer-facing usage shows minutes used/remaining only (not our internal cost).
• Basic site logs when you visit alouvi.coal.marketing.

Where your text and audio live

• Speak: selected text is sent to the TTS provider for that request (xAI/Grok today; ElevenLabs and OpenAI when enabled).
• On your Mac: history, settings, and audio cache may live locally under Application Support for Alouvi.
• Cloud Speak sync: not available yet. We do not sync Speak transcripts to a cloud library.
• Auth: account email and magic-link tokens go through our Relay auth service only.

We do not sell your content. Clip saving and note-taking are not product promises.

Plans and keys

Public plans are Free ($0) and Pro ($29.99/mo or $144/yr USD prepaid). Fair-use minutes: Free about 240/month; Pro soft 1,500 / hard-review 3,000. Speak uses platform Rent keys. Customers do not paste Speak API keys. There is no public BYOK plan.

Retention

We keep account, billing, and meter records as needed to run the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal duties. Magic-link tokens expire quickly.
